Does your business set up a booth at local events to get in front of new customers and educate the public on your products/services?
Attending events is a great way to get in front of new customers, but it also requires a lot of work for you and your staff and it also can be expensive.
So how do you maximize your effectiveness at an event like this when you may be just a couple of booths down from your competitors?
First, make sure that everyone working your booth has either an iPad or a laptop handy when talking to customers. When having conversations with interested customers, make sure that each staff is trained to ask for their email address and to let the potential customer know that you will be sending them an exclusive offer.
It is better to gather email addresses this way than to run a giveaway and allow anyone to enter the contact information just to win something. You want to gather warm leads.
You'll have a drip email campaign set up to go out to these customers, sending more information to them about your product or services along with an offer that is only available for a limited time. This is much more effective than giving them your flyer and hoping it doesn't get tossed with the rest of the information they gathered from other booths.
Second tip is to set up digital ads targeting people at the show during the event and for the next week after. These ads can have the same limited time offer available to customers, and this is a great way to gain additional touch points with people who are already interested in what you are selling.
The third tip is to put digital contact cards in the hands of everyone working your booth. Dot is our preferred digital business card. Each time you talk to an interested party, have them scan your Dot card, and it will put all of your contact information into their phone directly. This is much better than using a paper business card that could easily get lost, and it makes it SO easy for the customer to contact you after the show.
